Former EPA Associate Administrator for Public Engagement and Environmental Education
Loni Cortez Russell joins SubjectToClimate after spending over a decade as an environmental organizer and advocate. Most recently Loni served as the Associate Administrator for Public Engagement and Environmental Education with the Environmental Protection Agency under the Biden-Harris Administration leading engagement and outreach on behalf of the Agency. Prior to EPA, Loni served as Director of Partner Engagement at the Climate Action Campaign, a coalition of national climate organizations working to advance federal policy to address the climate crisis. Loni has also worked with Moms Clean Air Force and Environmental Defense Fund, advocating for children’s health and effective state-based environmental policy. She holds an MS in Political Science from Lund University in Sweden and a BA in Global Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara. She was born and raised in Los Angeles.
