Alex Webster is an internationally recognized environmental researcher, sustainability advocate, and youth leader dedicated to advancing marine conservation through scientific innovation and public engagement. A John V. Lombardi Scholar at the University of Florida Honors Program, Alex is majoring in Marine Science to earn a combined Bachelor's and Master's degree, striving to pursue a PhD in Marine Ecotoxicology. Beyond academia, Alex is the founder and executive leader of My Pet Mangrove, a youth-led nonprofit advancing coastal resilience through mangrove restoration, environmental education, and civic engagement. Under his leadership, the organization has implemented a scalable, science-driven restoration model that has resulted in the planting and stewardship of hundreds of mangroves while educating thousands of citizens on blue-carbon ecosystems, climate adaptation, and coastal policy. A sought-after youth voice in environmental science, Alex has inspired future scientific researchers at the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair, local legislative and environmental advisory boards, and school district meetings. He has empowered dozens of students as a science mentor, peer educator, and head academic tutor, fostering early scientific engagement and environmental responsibility. Through his research, advocacy, and mentorship, Alex Webster continues to redefine what it means to be a youth leader in environmental sustainability—uniting technical rigor, civic engagement, and academic excellence to protect and restore our planet’s most vital ecosystems.
