Teaching tips

Students can complete these worksheets as a whole class, in small groups, or as part of station work.
There are a variety of skills represented to be able to meet the needs of learners.
Encourage students to think about the natural world around them and what they might see, hear, and smell while walking through nature.
Some accompanying activities might include a nature walk, outdoor reading time, or a scent and sight scavenger hunt.
Some students may not have a safe outdoor space to explore. In these cases, explore the school grounds or participate in a virtual nature walk.
Encourage students to think of ways to take care of the natural world around them.
As an extension activity, students may write about how they can care for the natural world.
Students may color in the stars at the top of the page to demonstrate either how difficult they felt the work was, how they think they did, or how they feel about the content. Be sure to follow up with students about their responses.
