Differentiation & Implementation
- Teachers can illustrate the amount of accessible freshwater by having students create the model in this lesson.
- To implement this in the classroom, teachers may want to organize this with one or two class periods spent on a lesson about stormwater, another class period for researching local stormwater systems, and about a week to plan and organize the action project (with much of the organizing done by the teacher ahead of time).
- Students can channel their creativity by creating posters to advertise the day of their community action project.
- To make language arts and media studies connections, students can write and produce persuasive video announcements, urging community members to volunteer for their community action project.
