Synopsis

In this lesson, students will analyze three brief videos about women in science who have contributed to solar energy technology.
Students will discuss the author's purpose and credibility, common themes, changes throughout history, and text-to-self connections.

Differentiation & Implementation

To visualize the events described in the videos, students can create timelines of the events and accomplishments of each woman's life.
Students may benefit from a discussion where they work to understand the connections between each woman's work and solar energy.
Teachers can make connections to climate change by highlighting the relationship between fossil fuels and climate change and, in turn, the importance of alternative clean energy.
This resource can be used to make connections to Sustainable Development Goal 5, Gender Equality, and Goal 7, Affordable and Clean Energy.
