Synopsis
This comic book from World's Largest Lesson introduces students to superheroes Chakra the Invincible and Mighty Girl and the Sustainable Development Goals.
This comic book focuses on SDG 6, Clean Water and Sanitation, exploring a solution originating in India.
This comic provides many suggestions for kids to help, which may help students who are feeling powerless in the face of global issues.
Students will love the two superheroes and this comic-book-style of introducing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Prerequisites
Before reading, students may need some of the terms defined, such as malnutrition, discrimination, infrastructure, resilient, deforestation, and others.
Students should understand climate change and its causes.
Differentiation & Implementation
Teachers can either print the comic for students to read and complete the activities or print out the activity pages for students to use as a workbook after reading through the graphic novel on a device or as a class.
To demonstrate their understanding, students can create posters showing what kids like them can do to help support Goal 6, Clean Water and Sanitation.
After reading, students can each select one of the goals to research further and come up with ways kids can help support the goals. This guide has resources for each of the 17 goals.
To practice creative writing, students can create their own superhero who is focused on contributing to one of the SDGs.
