The Michigan Climate Education Hub (MIclimatehub.org) will utilize the digital infrastructure of SubjectToClimate’s Core Platform to provide free, credible, and engaging climate change education resources. The Hub will include:
- High-quality teaching resources (e.g., readings, curricular materials, audiovisual media, activities) aligned with Michigan state standards
- Exemplar lesson plans created by educators across all grade levels and subjects
- Links to Michigan-specific and general professional learning opportunities
- Climate change news articles for students, differentiated by grade level
- Climate Change Explainers, developed in partnership with MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative, designed to answer climate change and pedagogical questions
SubjectToClimate, in collaboration with The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE), and the Michigan Climate Action Network (MiCan) developed the Michigan Climate Education Hub to provide educators with a centralized repository of climate resources.
MAEOE has played a key role in assembling advisory and working committees to guide the hub’s development and ensure its alignment with Michigan’s educational landscape. The hub will serve as a vital resource for MiSTEM regional coordinators, Michigan Green Schools activities, and all educators who are looking for place-based lesson plans that highlight Michigan-specific climate issues and solutions.
SubjectToClimate's mission to integrate climate education has thrived through local collaborations. Bridget Booth, SubjectToClimate's Michigan State Lead, is working closely with educators, state agencies, and environmental organizations to ensure the Michigan Climate Education Hub meets the unique needs of teachers and students across the state.
