Synopsis
- In this activity-based lesson plan, students develop a land acknowledgment honoring Indigenous people, explore changes in their local environments, and create their own personal narrative climate stories.
- Students also have the option of creating a digital story that communicates their newly acquired knowledge, along with their personal opinions based on the information provided.

- The lesson plan is comprehensive with learning objectives, time allotment, preparation materials, detailed procedures, discussion questions, and a culminating activity.

Additional Prerequisites
- The lesson plan and activities can be shared to a Google Classroom or printed.
- Teachers should begin with viewing the four adaptation videos which coincide with the lesson plan.
Differentiation
- Social Studies classes can use the lessons, activities, and extension videos in a unit about cultures of the world.
- Language Arts teachers will be able to have their students conduct research about Indigenous people of the local communities, as well as worldwide, and create explanatory essays based on the information.
- The lesson plan can be the basis of a cross-curricular unit on civic action and/or how climate change affects local communities.
- There is an extension activity of an engineering design process for Science classes.
