Scientist Notes
This podcast resource from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality focuses on water quality across the state. The state water quality integrated report is discussed at length, along with Clean Water Act compliance. Two case studies of projects that markedly improved water quality and resilience in the Columbia Slough and the Walla Walla sub-basin are explored before the discussion finally turns to future water quality efforts in Oregon. All speakers are deeply involved in water quality issues and their discussion is enlightening. The greatest value provided with this resource for students is the links to the 2022 Integrated Report, which features in-depth information and an interactive map where students can explore the water quality in their area. The report offers a lot of opportunity for additional research. This resource is engaging, informative, and is recommended for teaching.
