This guide is designed to help middle and high school science teachers incorporate climate topics into their classrooms. Key concepts are introduced to optimize students’ comprehension through grade-level-specific instructional strategies, suggestions on how to effectively introduce climate-related topics, and links to supplementary teaching tools. This guide also provides a “Climate Literacy Quiz” for instructors to test their knowledge on principle concepts.
The Climate Literacy and Energy Awareness Network (CLEAN) Portal was launched in 2010 as a National Science Digital Library (NSDL) Pathways project. It is led by the science education expertise of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Science (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder and the Science Education Resource Center (SERC) at Carleton College.
