Read Aloud Guide: Climate Science Solutions

This guide is designed for use with a climate science nonfiction or nonfiction narrative text that includes a climate change problem and offers solutions. Several options include:

• ClimateScience's Earthly Books (virtual books)

• Earth's Energy Resources Series (virtual books)

• What's Up in the Atmosphere, Exploring Colors in the Sky (PDF)
  

• Read your chosen text before teaching, note the problems and solutions presented, and write guiding questions surrounding the topics. 

• Choose 2-3 vocabulary words to focus on during the reading. These may be words that include spelling patterns or word parts that your class is studying, or they may be words that are key to understanding the text.

• Many of the books linked above are lengthy, plan several days to read them.

This activity guides students to learn about climate storytelling, ask questions about climate science, and explore how to use stories to motivate climate action. Our scientific analysis of the activity revealed that it is well-sourced.
