In this activity-based lesson plan, students develop a land acknowledgment honoring Indigenous people, explore changes in their local environments, and create their own personal narrative climate stories.
Students also have the option of creating a digital story that communicates their newly acquired knowledge, along with their personal opinions based on the information provided.

Differentiation
Social Studies classes can use the lessons, activities, and extension videos in a unit about cultures of the world.
Language Arts teachers will be able to have their students conduct research about Indigenous people of the local communities, as well as worldwide, and create explanatory essays based on the information.
The lesson plan can be the basis of a cross-curricular unit on civic action and/or how climate change affects local communities.
