Prerequisites
It may benefit students to understand why food waste is a problem on a larger scale.
Differentiation & Implementation
Students in art classes can use these as inspiration for their own mural project or create models on canvas. If teachers have administrative support, students may be able to paint a food waste mural in the cafeteria or another area of the school.
This project can inspire students to audit their own food waste or the food waste in their school. Students can track and analyze the food that is thrown away in the school cafeteria by having students put food items in a separate bin.
To help students understand the connections between food waste and climate change, teachers may want to use this resource in conjunction with a lesson like this one.
Teachers can use this resource to make connections to the Sustainable Development Goals, like SDG 2, Zero Hunger, or SDG 13, Climate Action.
