Synopsis
This resource from The Global Goals introduces students to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 by explaining what quality education means, why equitable access to education is essential worldwide, and how barriers to education affect individuals and societies.
The resource provides an overview of the ten targets for this goal and global education challenges and disparities to support student understanding of equity, opportunity, and the role of education in social and economic development.

Teachers can use this resource to to help make connections between quality education and other goals, such as gender equality and reduced inequalities.
To help students understand how quality education can help contribute to climate solutions, teachers can highlight Target 4.7 and explain how people may become informed about climate change through schooling and be equipped to make decisions to benefit the climate.
