Synopsis

Additional Prerequisites
Students should know the terms captive, biology, and media.
Teachers should be mindful that some students, especially those with dyslexia, may struggle with word searches. Teachers may wish to have an alternative activity for these students.
Differentiation
Students can write a letter to or interview a local wildlife biologist about their job.
Students can act as wildlife biologists and choose a native animal to research in the library.
In math, students can answer or create math questions about animals they have researched or create charts and graphs to include in their wildlife research.
Teachers can make community connections by inviting a local wildlife biologist or wildlife biology professor to speak to students.
If students don't already have a bird club, they can practice persuasive skills by proposing this group to their administration.
